We lock ALL gates, ALL of the time. Many dogs know how to flip latches and get out of yards. What would you do if you or another employee accidentally left a gate unlocked and a dog (or group of dogs) got loose on the property?

We do allow social play at our facility, as long as the dogs are dog-friendly, and spayed/neutered. How would you go about introducing a new dog into a play group? What are the signs you would look for when dogs are playing that would alert you there might be an altercation? What's the first thing you would do if you saw any unwanted behaviors?

If two dogs suddenly got into a fight, what steps would you take?

Some dogs are room aggressive, but are in fact social with others when they’re outside. How would you handle this kind of dog? What steps would you take to get the dog out safely?

Some dogs are very nervous and scared in the kennel environment. They may growl, snap at, or even try to bite you. If a dog like this was scared and not coming out of its room on its own, how would you go about trying to get him/her outside?

We have some dogs that stay with us who require insulin or allergy shots to be given while in our care. Have you ever had to give a dog an injection before? Are you familiar with giving medications? What would you do if the dog wouldn't allow you to administer its shot or kept spitting out the pills you were trying to get it to take?

The majority of our job involves cleaning. We keep a disinfected facility for the health and safety of the dogs. We use many different cleaners, but diluted chlorine bleach is used most frequently. Do you have any problems with the extensive cleaning and/or chemicals involved?

Part of our job is customer service! We love the dogs, but it’s their owners who make their reservations and keep the dogs coming back to us. What would you do if a client asked you a question you didn’t know the answer to? What would you do if you were faced with an irate client?

Much of this job requires you to be able to work on your own, with your own groups of dogs that are in your care for your shift. However, we’re also a team and we work together, helping each other out whenever possible to ensure that the absolute best care is provided for the dogs. Have you worked in a team environment before?
